Joblaze insights
Quick facts
From the original posting
Platform & Infrastructure keeps everything else fast, reliable and easy to build on. We own the shared services every product team builds on top of (identity, search, communication and our Pantry design system), the tooling that makes our engineers productive, and the release and runtime foundations that let us ship with confidence. Build it once, and every team benefits.
Product Foundation: Identity, communication, search and Pantry, including the Integrations Marketplace, Global Search and the Pantry Design System.
Developer Productivity: Internal tooling and IDE plugins that make every engineer faster.
Release + Runtime and Testing: CI/CD, SRE, FedRAMP compliance and QA. This team leans more toward infrastructure and reliability.
Set the technical direction for the shared services and components that other teams depend on.
Design APIs, tools and design system components that other engineers want to use, and drive adoption across teams.
Improve the speed, safety and reliability of how we build, test and ship software.
Treat internal engineers as your customers: gather feedback, measure adoption and iterate.
Lead the design and delivery of large, ambiguous projects end to end, from planning through production.
Partner directly with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering leadership, and the engineers who build on your work to shape your team’s roadmap and influence the roadmaps of adjacent teams.
Own the long-term technical health of a platform domain: reliability, performance, and the parts of the codebase nobody notices until they break.
Drive architecture decisions and write the technical proposals others build against.
Mentor senior and staff engineers, and set the standard for code review on your team.
Raise the bar on tooling, testing, and delivery practices across teams, not just your own.
Our core stack is TypeScript, React, Node.js, and MySQL. Some teams use C# or Python. You don't need to already know every piece of it to apply. You'll land on a team of 5 to 10 people and take on-call rotation as part of the role. Within your first 6 months, you’ll own the technical direction of a platform domain or system outright.
We don't have a minimum in-office mandate, but we prefer our teams to be located around our office hubs. In Canada this includes: Montreal and Toronto.
10+ years of professional experience building full-stack web or mobile products, including a track record of leading technical work at a scope beyond a single team.
Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
Experience designing shared systems that held up at scale, and the judgment to know when not to build something.
Experience with mobile-first, responsive, iterative development.
A track record of writing maintainable, testable code you’re comfortable handing off to someone else.
Strong written and verbal communication: you can explain a technical tradeoff to a designer, a support lead, or an executive as easily as to another developer.
Comfort making progress on a problem before the spec is fully settled, adjusting as you learn more.
Day-to-day use of AI tools in your development workflow, not just occasional experimentation.
Nice to have: GraphQL, React Native, or SQL database experience. For this area, we also value: Experience with search technology, authentication and identity, design systems or component libraries, developer tooling or IDE extensions, CI/CD, observability, or compliance programs such as FedRAMP or SOC 2.
