Joblaze summary
In this role, the Product Engineer will focus on developing new products at the intersection of human-computer interaction and AI, collaborating closely with the research team to test and refine ideas. Key skills include prototyping, hypothesis testing, and the ability to pivot based on user feedback, with an emphasis on creating innovative interaction patterns. This position is well-suited for individuals with a background in product development who thrive in ambiguous environments and have a track record of turning concepts into tangible products. Wispr Flow is a talent-rich company that values rapid experimentation and the integration of user insights into product evolution.
Joblaze insights
Quick facts
From the original posting
You’ll drive the creation of new products on the frontier of HCI, in collaboration with our research team. You’ll form hypotheses, build prototypes, test them with teammates and users, discard ideas that do not work, and ultimately build evidence for how Wispr’s products should evolve. If an idea works, you’ll help turn it into a real product area and own its direction and implementation.
Explore areas such as: fast voice actions, computer use, novel interaction patterns
Develop hypotheses, prototypes, and experiments for your own ideas
Build and evolve a harness for in-house models around human computer interaction
Improve memory and context retrieval to support different interaction modalities
Partner with the ML team to create a bidirectional product–model feedback loop
Test, evaluate, and either graduate promising ideas into product areas or document why they should be abandoned
If a bet sticks, own its direction and implementation with increasing scope
You have taken an ambiguous idea from hypothesis to prototype and user or internal testing.
You have explored multiple directions and killed ideas when the evidence did not support them.
Built something that changed how people interact with a computer, or demonstrated unusually strong instincts for new interaction patterns.
Worked closely with researchers or technical collaborators where product needs and model capabilities shaped each other.
Shipped a prototype or product, or can show a rigorous body of experiments and learning even when nothing graduated.
Owned meaningful product direction and implementation when an idea proved promising.
Communicated your work clearly through concrete artifacts, technical or product writing, or demos - especially in public!
You do not need experience in this exact area or deep expertise across HCI, product, and ML. We care more about how quickly you learn and your judgment about what to test, when to stop, and what to pursue.
