RF & Signal Processing Engineer

Location: Ottawa, On-Site

Reports to: Engineering Leadership Team

The Role

We are looking for an RF & Signal Processing Engineer to help design, build, test, and deploy advanced RF, wireless communications, sensing, and spectrum systems.

You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept development and rapid prototyping through integration, testing, and operational deployment. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and applied physics, solving challenging problems in communications, sensing, navigation, and spectrum awareness.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You enjoy building and testing real systems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, and rapidly iterating in a fast-moving environment where ideas quickly become fielded capability.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, analyze, and optimize RF systems, signal chains, antennas, and wireless communication systems.

  • Develop and implement digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for communications, sensing, navigation, spectrum monitoring, and signal analysis applications.

  • Perform RF modeling, simulation, testing, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.

  • Conduct laboratory and field testing using RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and software-defined radios (SDRs).

  • Support system integration, prototype development, verification, and transition into low-volume manufacturing.

  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges.

  • Contribute to PCB design, electrical integration, and system bring-up activities.

  • Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design reviews.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • Experience in RF engineering, wireless communications, signal processing, radar, electronic warfare, satellite communications, navigation systems, spectrum monitoring, or related technologies.

  • Strong understanding of RF propagation, antenna theory, electromagnetics, communication systems, and digital signal processing.

  • Experience using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, ADS, CST, HFSS, or similar engineering software.

  • Experience working with software-defined radios (SDRs) and wireless communication systems.

  • Knowledge of signal detection, classification, direction finding, geolocation, and spectrum analysis techniques.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with embedded systems, FPGA development, or machine learning applications for RF systems is an asset.

  • Experience working with RF power amplifiers (PA MMICs), including matching, tuning, and testing, is an asset.

  • Familiarity with modulation schemes, digital radio systems, ADCs, DACs, RFSoCs, and SDR architectures is an asset.

  • Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, laboratory equipment, and field test systems.

  • A pull toward startup pace, and toward the mission. We build for Canada's defence and sovereignty, and we want people who care that it gets done.

No defence background required.

We've hired people who didn't tick every box. If this is the work you want to do, please apply anyway.
