Senior Low Level Engineer - Infrastructure

About the Role

Build the agent that Neo's whole product depends on: a privileged, cross-platform systems program written in Rust. Everything Neo shows a security team starts on the endpoint.

The sensor is the organization's presence on each machine - responsible for collection, posture and visibility, and local enforcement of the organization's security policies. Doing that well means running deep in the operating system on Windows, macOS and Linux: always on, trusted with elevated access, and never in the way. This role owns the hard parts of it.

What you'll work on

  • The low-level, OS-level infrastructure the sensor is built on: the layer that handles low-level and OS-level operations directly and turns raw platform capabilities into reliable building blocks for everything above it - installation and deployment, endpoint security frameworks, network visibility, driver-adjacent work and more.
  • Infrastructure that is the backbone of the product — code where stability, correctness, and quality aren't aspirations but the actual job, because every feature Neo ships stands on it.
  • The sensor's core capabilities on top of that foundation: collection, posture and visibility, and local enforcement of the organization's security policies.
  • Reliability engineering for software that can't fail quietly: crash handling, recovery, and keeping the agent healthy and hard to tamper with on machines no one is watching.
  • The full lifecycle of a production system agent: how it ships, installs, updates, and runs unattended across a customer fleet.

Tech you'll work with

The work is low-level systems development in Rust, close to the operating system across Windows, macOS, and Linux - memory, processes, files, networking and the OS internals that expose them.

Alongside that, you'll lean hard on agentic coding tools; deep fluency with at least one is central to how we work, not a bonus. Expect to range across the stack - OS internals, AI tooling internals, CI, and a fair amount of reverse engineering - and to learn the parts you don't know yet.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of systems programming in Rust, C, or C++, working close to the OS.
  • Hands-on experience with the internals of at least one of Windows, macOS or Linux (services or daemons, process and file APIs, security frameworks and low level development).
  • Experience shipping and operating production-grade software for a large customer base - you understand what enterprise-grade means in practice: reliability across thousands of diverse environments, upgrades that can't break anyone, and problems you only ever see through telemetry
  • Strong ownership and independence - you drive your work end to end, stay independent without going dark, and keep the customer's experience in view even when you're ten layers deep in the OS.
  • A team player with strong communication skills - you explain deep technical work clearly, surface problems and discuss them, resolve technical disagreements with arguments rather than ego, and make the people around you better.

Nice to have

  • A security background - endpoint protection, EDR/MDM, or any product whose job is defending machines rather than just running on them.
  • Networking - protocols, secure transport, and how software behaves on real-world networks; hands-on experience with traffic inspection, interception, or network visibility tooling is a real plus.
  • Deeper AI knowledge - beyond daily tool use: how models and agents work under the hood, or experience building agentic workflows and evaluating their output.
  • Applied cryptography - you've worked with encryption, signing, or trust chains in real systems, not just used a library blindly.
  • Backend / Full stack knowledge and understanding.
