About this role:

As a Senior Marketing Manager based in Japan, you will serve as Udemy's on-the-ground marketing owner in the region and the key strategic liaison with our partner Benesse, ensuring both organizations are aligned on strategy and execution. You will lead comprehensive marketing strategies that drive growth across the B2B market, managing complex campaigns and events while optimizing the collaboration between Udemy and Benesse teams. The ideal candidate moves fluidly between big-picture strategy and hands-on execution, developing innovative approaches that leverage the unique strengths of both organizations to expand reach and maximize impact.

About your skills:

Marketing Strategy: You develop and implement comprehensive plans to allocate resources effectively, increase sales, and achieve competitive advantage by connecting organizational capabilities with customer needs across B2B markets in Japan, leveraging both Udemy and Benesse strengths.

Campaign Planning: You create comprehensive strategies to achieve long-term marketing objectives by coordinating activities, resources, and phases across multiple teams and stakeholders, ensuring seamless execution from concept to completion while aligning Udemy and Benesse initiatives.

Demand Generation: You design and implement targeted marketing programs that drive awareness and interest in our products and services for both consumer and business audiences, creating measurable impact on pipeline growth and customer acquisition through strategic collaboration with Benesse.

Partnership Management: You serve as the strategic bridge between Udemy and Benesse, building, maintaining, and optimizing this critical partnership while fostering collaboration that drives mutual value and ensures both organizations' resources are leveraged effectively to achieve shared objectives in Japan.

Field Marketing & Events: You plan and execute end-to-end field events — conferences, trade shows, webinars, and customer events — owning everything from strategy and vendor logistics to on-the-ground execution as a hands-on, one-person operation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Serve as the primary strategic liaison between Udemy and Benesse, ensuring alignment on marketing strategy and objectives while personally driving joint campaign execution day-to-day across Japan

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that leverage both Udemy and Benesse resources to drive growth across the B2B segment

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns that effectively integrate Udemy and Benesse capabilities to reach target audiences

  • Design and implement demand generation programs that create qualified leads and accelerate pipeline growth through strategic partnership initiatives

  • Own end-to-end field event management including conferences, webinars, trade shows, and customer events that showcase the combined value of Udemy and Benesse offerings

  • Develop and run customer marketing programs — advocacy, case studies, and retention/expansion campaigns — that deepen engagement with existing B2B accounts in Japan

  • Facilitate regular communication and collaboration between Udemy and Benesse teams to ensure seamless execution and mutual success

  • Build and nurture additional strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, vendors, and regional partners to amplify marketing impact in the Japanese market

  • Analyze campaign performance and partnership effectiveness to optimize strategies and demonstrate ROI on marketing investments across both organizations

  • Manage marketing budgets and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and impact across all initiatives while ensuring optimal utilization of both Udemy and Benesse investments

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of marketing experience in Japan with a proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies for B2B markets

  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing and developing direct marketing or partner teams, with demonstrated success in coaching, mentoring, and driving team performance

  • Demonstrated expertise in partner marketing — managing strategic partnerships and co-marketing programs, and serving as a liaison between multiple organizations with complex stakeholder relationships

  • Strong background in demand generation with measurable results in lead generation and pipeline growth across consumer and business markets through partnership initiatives

  • Extensive hands-on experience in field marketing and event execution, including conferences, trade shows, webinars, and customer engagement events, from strategy through on-the-ground logistics

  • Hands-on experience with customer marketing — advocacy programs, case studies, or retention/expansion campaigns — in a B2B context

  • Experience building and managing strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships in the Japanese business environment, preferably with educational or technology companies

  • Proven ability to lead cross-organizational initiatives and align diverse teams toward shared objectives and outcomes

  • Analytical mindset with experience using data to drive decision-making and optimize marketing performance across partnership channels

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and align diverse teams across multiple organizations in a cross-cultural environment
