Senior Quantum Field Engineer - South Korea

Role:

We are looking for a Senior Quantum Field Engineer to join IonQ in Seoul, South Korea. This is a technical, customer facing role connecting customer needs with quantum computing products and applications. You will help prospective and existing clients understand the technology and identify where it could deliver practical business value.

Working across field engineering, product, applications, marketing, developer relations and business development, you will help customers move from early ideas through technical exploration and proofs of concept towards production workflows. The role combines technical depth with customer discovery, demonstrations and technical sales. It offers hybrid working, with domestic and international travel for client meetings and industry events.

Responsibilities:

You will lead technical customer conversations across IonQ’s portfolio, including quantum computing, networking, security, sensing and space. You will explore customers’ business needs, explain the capabilities and limitations of the technology, and work with the IonQ Applications team to translate relevant quantum algorithms into application code and proof of concept projects.

Your work will connect customer requirements with product and engineering decisions. By developing demonstrations, sharing technical insights and feeding customer experience back into the business, you will help customers evaluate opportunities and help IonQ understand what they need from its products.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead customer discovery sessions to identify business use cases and potential applications for quantum algorithms.
• Translate customer needs into technical projects with product, engineering and applications teams.
• Create demonstrations, technical materials and reusable assets that explain IonQ’s products and applications.
• Share customer insights with Product Management and Engineering to inform product development.
• Partner with marketing, developer relations and business development on customer workshops, industry conferences and client meetings.

Requirements:

You will bring experience in a technical, customer facing role and the ability to explain complex topics clearly to different audiences. You should be comfortable guiding discovery conversations, answering technical questions, navigating objections and helping clients assess how quantum applications could apply within their business.

Experience working on the customer side of relevant industries, including in leadership roles, would be valuable where it has developed your understanding of customer priorities and decision making. A master’s degree or PhD in a STEM field related to quantum computing would also be beneficial, alongside architecture experience spanning different technologies.

You’d be a great fit with:

• At least five years’ experience in technical, customer facing roles, or equivalent experience.
• A bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or another STEM field.
• A strong interest in quantum computing and motivation to keep learning as the field develops.
• Practical experience with Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Qiskit, Cirq or other quantum computing SDKs.
• Experience leading technical events, demonstrations or customer workshops.
