About the Role

As a Commercial Solutions Engineer at Skydio you will play a critical role at the intersection of technology, customer success, and revenue growth. Our customers span a wide range of industries, from utilities and critical infrastructure to emergency response, physical security, and beyond, and every day brings new challenges where autonomous drones can unlock meaningful insights and transform operations. You will be a key technical partner throughout the sales process, working alongside Account Executives to design solutions to complex customer problems, and your impact continues well after the deal closes: Solutions Engineers guide customers through onboarding, implementation, expansion, and long-term program success.

This is a remote role. Travel of 50 to 75% is required to support customer engagements, field activities, deployments, team onsites, and company events.

About the Team

Commercial Solutions Engineering is the technical arm of Skydio's commercial go-to-market motion. We sit between the customer and the product: translating industrial and security problems into deployable programs, proving capability in the field, and making sure Skydio's products are integrated and flown at scale across sites that were never designed with drones in mind.

Coverage is tiered by customer size rather than by territory, so the team is measured on technical win rate, trial and proof of concept outcomes, program expansion inside existing accounts, and the requirements we push back into the product organization.

Solutions Engineers are critical members of the Skydio organization and work closely with Account Executives, Engineering, and Product to support deal progression, customer confidence, successful deployments, and the long-term success of commercial sUAS programs. Internally you are, in every sense, the voice of the customer.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Partner with Account Executives through the full sales cycle: technical discovery, solution design, demonstrations, and the technical narrative that differentiates Skydio.

  • Translate complex use cases into operational workflows and scalable deployment practices, rather than one-off answers that do not survive the second site.

  • Run proofs of concept to a standard: structured deployments tied to an active opportunity with measurable operational value, not casual evaluations.

  • Guide integration and airspace strategy — REST APIs and customer data environments, physical security and video platforms, networking, BVLOS approvals, waivers, and docked operations.

  • Guide customers through onboarding, implementation, and expansion, and build the reusable technical assets that let the team scale without rebuilding the same answer.

  • Provide direct field feedback to Product and Engineering as prioritized, defensible requirements rather than a list of one-off asks.

What Makes You a Good Fit

  • Experience in unmanned aircraft operation, design, development, or regulatory environments.

  • Experience in one or more of our core commercial segments: utilities, AEC, security, or oil and gas.

  • Technical competence and a background in a related field such as aviation, engineering, computer science, software development, or hardware design.

  • Familiarity with integrations, REST-based APIs, or similar technologies.

  • The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to audiences ranging from drone pilots to senior executives.

  • A solutions-focused mindset and a strong motivation to support the sales process and contribute to revenue goals.

Nice to Have

  • Networking experience or certifications such as CCNA.

  • Experience with GIS, photogrammetry, or survey and mapping workflows.

  • Experience with dock-based, remote, and BVLOS operations at scale.

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, Palantir, Databricks, or equivalents.

What Is Required

  • Active FAA Part 107 Certificate.

  • Ability to travel 50 to 75% of the time.

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs unaided.
