What is The Role

We are seeking an experienced, tech-forward Senior Accountant as part of our rapid organizational growth. Working with cross Accounting, finance, and treasury teams you will perform month-end close execution, foreign exchange accounting, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing calculations, and complex balance sheet reconciliations. You will also participate in project automation and process improvement, leveraging tools; including Python, Sigma, SQL, and AI capabilities, to streamline legacy workflows and enhance reporting accuracy.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Support on month-end close activities, including complex journal entries, financial accruals, intercompany eliminations, transfer pricing calculations, intercompany AR/AP billing, and FX variance analysis.
  • Perform secondary book validation and ensure accuracy across multi-entity and statutory reporting ledgers.
  • Assist with M&A opening balance sheet preparation and support monthly journal entries until acquired companies are fully integrated into Elastic.
  • Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts (COA) to support evolving business structures and reporting requirements.
  • Perform financial statement flux analysis (MoM, QoQ, YoY) to evaluate account behavior and deliver meaningful insights to finance leadership.
  • Assist with audit preparation, balance sheet disclosures, and internal control compliance (SOX); help build reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support process improvement and automation initiatives by leveraging the appropriate tools and languages; such as Python scripts, SQL queries, Sigma, and Excel Macros (VBA) to automate repetitive data processing and journal preparation.
  • Execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and data validation for systems implementations, ERP enhancements, and continuous software integration projects.
  • Collaborate on foreign currency exchange (FX) management and multi-entity accounting across global subsidiaries.
  • Utilize cutting-edge AI tools and workflow automation to eliminate operational bottlenecks, increase accuracy, and modernize daily ledger operations.
  • Produce ad-hoc financial reporting, data analysis, and support special cross-functional finance projects.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field (mandatory; CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience demonstrating progressive responsibility
  • Strong hands-on experience with major Enterprise ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) power user
  • Advanced Excel technical capabilities (complex logic formulas, index/match, pivot modeling)
  • Proven experience participating in system UAT testing, software implementations, and financial transformation projects
  • Experience with foreign currency (FX) accounting, intercompany AR/AP billing, transfer pricing, and multi-entity global consolidations across global subsidiaries
  • Early adopter mindset regarding AI accounting tools and generative automation to streamline workflows

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.
