About the Team
Doppler’s Product and Design team is nimble and hands-on and works with every team at Doppler. You’ll have your own growth engineering pod, so ideas can turn into live experiments without much friction, and you’ll have an outsized impact on how Doppler grows. We care about the quality of what we build and collaborate with as little ego as humanly possible.
The Role
You’ll own Doppler’s self-serve growth engine, from a developer’s first visit to the moment their team starts paying. We have ambitious plans to grow the business several times over in the next few years, and this role is central to getting there. Your job is to find and run the experiments that move top-line revenue, working across the whole product and reporting to the Head of Product. As the growth function scales, there’s a clear path to Head of Growth.
This isn’t a job about tooltips and upgrade popups. Growth at Doppler should never feel bolted on or get in a developer’s way. You’ll be the voice of first-time users in product and go-to-market decisions, and you’ll find the changes that help developers succeed with Doppler and grow the business at the same time.
What You’ll Own
Self-serve revenue. You’ll own several key metrics, like visit-to-signup rate, signup-to-activation rate, free-to-paid conversion, and trial conversion rate, with the primary goal of driving new self-serve ARR.
Before signup. Shape what happens before a developer signs up. Partner with Marketing on the website, pricing page, and demo forms, and bring the data on which visitors become active, paying users.
Activation. Find the early actions that predict a paying account, measure time-to-value, and shorten the path from signup to the first secret synced and the first integration running. This covers individual developers, self-serve teams, and trials. That includes the CLI, docs, and anything else developers rely on to get started, and helping users discover features they aren’t using yet.
Free-to-paid conversion. Own upgrade paths, paywalls, trials, plan limits, and checkout. Work with Leadership and Finance on pricing and packaging changes to drive revenue growth.
Experimentation. Build Doppler’s experimentation practice from the ground up. That means the roadmap, the tools, success criteria and the workflows that come with it. Focus on bets that materially move the business, not small tweaks.
Lifecycle and new products. Partner with growth marketing on onboarding emails and campaigns so in-product and lifecycle messaging work together. As Doppler launches new products, help product teams drive their adoption.
PLG to sales. Figure out and define which product usage shows that a self-serve account is ready for a conversation with Sales, and work with Sales and RevOps to route those accounts to the right reps.
The growth team. You’ll help build the growth team, from hiring the engineers who join it and partnering with Design to deciding how the team works, how fast it ships, and how its lessons spread through the company.
Strategy. Build a growth model, set the funnel strategy, and present progress and lessons to leadership and our investors.
What we’re looking for
5+ years in product management, with at least 3 years owning a self-serve or PLG funnel end to end at a B2B SaaS company. A developer-tool, infrastructure or security company is ideal.
Hands-on use of AI coding tools and a point of view on the AI agent ecosystem.
A record of experiments that measurably moved revenue or conversion. You can walk us through the numbers.
A strong grasp of how free accounts become paying ones, and how self-serve usage feeds an enterprise sales motion.
Comfort with data. You write your own SQL, have used experimentation and feature flagging platforms (PostHog, Statsig, LaunchDarkly, Amplitude or similar), understand event tracking, cohorts, and attribution, and know where an A/B test can mislead you.
Strong developer-experience instinct, with opinions on CLIs, error messages, defaults and docs, and the ability to blend data and user research into experiments developers don’t mind seeing.
Enough technical depth to earn developers’ trust and to work closely with engineers on instrumentation and architecture.
Experience leading a growth team or building an experimentation practice from scratch.
Clear, written, async communication. You write things down and you share bad results as readily as good ones.
Nice to have
Pricing and packaging experience at a SaaS or developer-tools company, including usage-based or seat-based pricing changes.
Experience at a company that went through the shift from PLG to enterprise.
A background in security, DevOps, or infrastructure products.
Familiarity with lifecycle marketing and funnel work on the website and signup flow.
Premium health insurance (medical, dental, vision)
Upward Mobility
Learning and Development Stipend
Wealth Advisor
401k
Pregnancy & Family Leave
Fertility & Adoption Benefits
Equal Compensation (regardless of gender or race)
