About the role:

The education team at Kong sits at the crucial intersection of engineering, product, and customer success. Their primary mission is to translate Kong's highly complex, cloud-native technologies into accessible, engaging learning experiences for global enterprise customers, partners, and internal staff.

You will be working with a small, tightly knit education team based in the UK, who have deep knowledge of Kong products and curriculum development. This team is responsible for creating and delivering both online and instructor-led training to Kong customers and partners.

As a curriculum developer, you will design hands-on labs and coursework covering the full API lifecycle, distilling complex cloud-native architectures, service meshes, and technologies like Kubernetes, Go, and Lua into digestible modules.

Your educational content will have a massive global impact, directly empowering enterprise architects, DevOps engineers, and the open-source community to master the critical infrastructure powering billions of daily API transactions.

 
 

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with a diverse team of people from all over the world

  • Building curriculums and associated training materials to support our internal and external training needs

  • Partnering with engineering and product management to understand our technical capabilities and developing content to enable technical audiences to understand how to best leverage our capabilities

  • Producing quality learning content including but not limited to presentation slides, instructor guides, lab instructions, assessment and credential questions, videos and course descriptions for both web-based training and instructor-led training

  • Deliver in-person and virtual instructor-led training offerings to diverse audiences, including engineers, solutions architects, managers and operations personnel

  • Analyzing customer training requirements

  • Developing appropriate learning objectives and test methods

  • Develops flow diagrams and storyboards.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

  • 5+ years developing curriculum for technical or software training courses, including instructor-led materials, self-paced e-learning modules, and job aids

  • Proficient in Linux environments including Cloud and Development tooling (e.g. GitHub)

  • Proven ability to write and edit content for the purpose of knowledge transfer and skill development; this includes collaborating with subject matter experts, instructors, and other stakeholders to explain technical concepts in simple terms

  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, and formatting skills

  • Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning principles to curriculum design and the development process

  • Ability to cater to multiple learning methods and to match the appropriate methods with the subject matter and audience

  • Experience working with a content management system, knowledge base, and/or online reference for learning

  • Can explain the benefits of using APIs and API governance clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to travel to customer and Kong locations as needed
