About Pinterest:

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the App Promotion engineering team. In this role, you will own the engineering roadmap to take Pinterest’s App Install Optimization product from beta to GA, hardening the current alpha/beta experience, closing critical measurement gaps, and ensuring readiness across Ads Manager, backend services, and mobile clients. You will lay the groundwork for future optimizations (App Event Optimization, tROAS, and retargeting) by partnering with Ads Quality, ML, and Measurement teams to build scalable models, robust experimentation, and trustworthy reporting. You will manage a team of 5–6 full stack and mobile engineers, foster an inclusive and high-performing team culture, and work closely with cross-functional leaders across Ads, Measurement, and Product to align on strategy, tradeoffs, and execution.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the engineering team responsible for the App Promotion objective and App Install Optimization, owning delivery from beta through GA.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and PMM to define and refine the advertiser experience for App Promotion in Ads Manager, including campaign creation, targeting, optimization, and reporting.
  • Work with Ads Quality, ML, and infra teams to ensure robust serving, modeling, and experimentation for app promotion campaigns.
  • Collaborate with Measurement, Reporting, and Partner teams to close SKAN and MMP attribution gaps and ensure App Promotion reporting is accurate and trusted.
  • Establish and maintain strong engineering practices for App Promotion, including design reviews, experimentation standards, on-call, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Hire, coach, and develop a diverse team of engineers; foster a culture of inclusion, learning, and operational excellence.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Several years of engineering management experience leading full stack and/or mobile teams shipping production systems.
  • Experience in performance, growth, or ads engineering, preferably with app install, app engagement, or lower-funnel objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects involving Product, Data, Design, and other engineering teams.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to dive deep into architecture, data quality, and measurement details when needed.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain strategy, tradeoffs, and technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to building inclusive teams and promoting a sense of belonging.
