The Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Analyst, Risk Management to manage transaction monitoring, fraud detection, chargeback resolution, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) controls. The ideal candidate will serve as a frontline defender against financial crime, working closely with merchants, customers, partner banks, and law enforcement agencies to minimize monetary losses and maintain institutional integrity.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Transaction Monitoring & Fraud Prevention: Continuously monitor real-time merchant and customer transactions to identify anomalous behavior, suspicious patterns, velocity spikes, and fraud indicators, taking immediate action to mitigate exposure.
  • AML & CFT Compliance: Perform Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT) reviews to detect pass-through activity, structuring/smurfing, and potential money laundering schemes.
  • Sanctions & PEP Screening: Execute sanctions screening against global watchlists (e.g., OFAC, UN, PEPs) during onboarding and ongoing transactional updates to prevent illicit actors from accessing platform services.
  • Risk Investigations & Data Analysis: Conduct end-to-end fraud and compliance investigations into flagged transactions. Perform quantitative data analysis on large transaction datasets to extract actionable insights, track fraud metrics, identify hidden anomaly patterns, and document detailed findings for potential SAR/STR filings.
  • Dispute & Chargeback Management: Handle transaction queries and dispute cases arising from customers; work closely with partner banks, card networks, and Cybercell to handle chargebacks, technical disputes, and ensure timely recovery to mitigate monetary losses.
  • Stakeholder & Merchant Engagement: Directly communicate with merchants and customers to clarify transaction discrepancies, gather required compliance documentation, and resolve operational queries in a professional manner.
  • Process Optimization & Reporting: Utilize Excel and data analysis techniques to build daily/weekly risk reporting dashboards, evaluate key risk indicators (KRIs), and provide inputs to optimize risk mitigation frameworks, operational workflows, and automated monitoring rules.

Skills and Experience Requirements

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Criminology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 2–3 Years of foundational experience in Risk Management, AML, Transaction Monitoring, Sanction Screening, customer support platforms, and CRM tools (e.g., Freshdesk, Zendesk, Salesforce).

Domain & Technical Knowledge

  • Data Analysis & Advanced Excel: Strong hands-on proficiency in Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Logical Functions, Conditional Formatting, Data Validation, Macros/VBA, and Charting/Dashboards) for processing large datasets, performing trend analysis, and generating operational risk reports. Knowledge of SQL or Python/R for data extraction is a strong plus.
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Sanctions: Solid understanding of core AML regulations, Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT) concepts, KYC/KYCB protocols, and Sanctions screening frameworks.
  • Card Network Guidelines & Chargebacks: Familiarity with Visa/Mastercard dispute guidelines, stages/levels of chargebacks (e.g., pre-arbitration, arbitration), penalty structures, technical chargebacks, and specific fraud reason codes.
  • Transaction Monitoring & Anomalies: Proficiency in recognizing transaction patterns, high-risk merchant profiles, red-flag behaviors, and common fraud/money-laundering tactics.
  • Tooling & Technology: Hands-on experience or familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Freshdesk) and web-based monitoring/case-management engines.

Core Behavioral & Analytical Competencies

  • Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Exceptional analytical skills to pinpoint subtle anomalies, inconsistencies, or suspicious behaviors in complex transaction logs.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, professional, and pleasant demeanor over phone and email interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
