About Radiant

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors that use existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.

About the Role

Radiant is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Electronics team. This team owns the electronics architecture for terrestrial reactor controls, with a long-term path toward space reactor applications. You will be the technical authority for custom hardware—low-noise analog front ends, high-speed data conversion, DSP, and PCB design—from requirements capture through field operation.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Build and manage a team of electrical engineers to develop and test the next generation of reactor control systems.

  • Own the electronic architecture for terrestrial and, in the future, space reactors.

  • Collaborate with other teams to define requirements for all electronic designs, environmental, noise, accuracy, input range, and reliability.

  • Own acceptance and qual testing of all in-house PCB designs to verify design and build to requirements.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years managing electrical engineers.

  • 5+ years designing mixed signals, analog, or RF hardware.

  • Proven track record of PCB design. With considerations for low noise, matched impedance signal routing, conduction cooling, robust internal and external connectors. Preferably in Altium.

  • Strong experience with industrial signal types, 4-20mA, RTD, Thermocouples, and Resolvers.

  • Experience with high-speed, sensitive signals.

  • Experience with digital communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and RS422.

  • Experience with EMI/EMC best practices for design and strategies to mitigate exceeding levels.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, aerospace, mechanical, nuclear engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with rad hardened circuit design.

  • Experience with control system design for nuclear applications.

  • Experience with nuclear instrumentation and signals.

  • Experience with applying IEEE-603 in electrical designs.
