Our mission is to uplift as many communities as possible. We do this through our app-based marketplace that connects healthcare professionals with the workplaces that need amazing workers. This enables hundreds of thousands of people to achieve financial stability for themselves and their families while providing essential care to millions of people across the U.S.
Founded in 2016, we are a remote-first team of over 1,000 people building a top Y-Combinator company and have been profitable since 2022. We’re the leader in Long-Term Care staffing and are rapidly expanding into Home Health, Hospitals, and more, meaning we have more work to do than people to do it, and are growing our team to support millions more people and their communities.
Clipboard Health is a marketplace that connects healthcare facilities with professionals looking for shifts.
Our largest customers operate at significant scale, and their problems don't always fit neatly into a single team or function. A product implementation might stall because of an operational workflow. A payroll issue might involve the customer, our Operations team, Product, and Engineering. An integration might technically work but fail to work for the people actually using it.
We need someone who can step into those situations and figure them out.
As a Forward Deployed Operations Manager, you'll work directly with some of our most important enterprise customers to solve complex operational and product problems. You'll get close to the customer, understand how their business actually works, diagnose what's going wrong, and coordinate the people needed to fix it.
You won't necessarily have direct authority over the teams doing the work. Instead, you'll create clarity, build alignment, and keep things moving.
Your job is to take a messy problem and turn it into a solved problem.
Some days that might mean analyzing data to understand why a customer's staffing workflow isn't working. Other days might involve coordinating a complex implementation across Product, Engineering, and Operations, troubleshooting a payroll or time clock issue, or working with a customer's leadership team to get a stalled initiative back on track.
The problems will change. The expectation won't: you own the outcome.
Own complex customer and operational problems from diagnosis through resolution
Work directly with enterprise customers to understand their workflows, challenges, and goals
Build relationships with customer stakeholders ranging from frontline operators to VP and Director-level leaders
Diagnose problems by combining customer conversations, operational context, data, and system behavior
Break ambiguous problems into clear workstreams, priorities, owners, and timelines
Lead complex customer implementations, particularly involving time clock compliance, payroll, and integrations with systems like ADP and UKG
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to investigate issues, define solutions, and drive execution
Coordinate across Product, Engineering, Operations, and customer teams to remove blockers and keep critical initiatives moving
Manage expectations and communicate clearly when timelines, priorities, or solutions change
Identify recurring operational and customer problems and turn those insights into improvements to our product and processes
Build new processes or approaches when existing ones aren't sufficient to solve the problem
Travel to customer sites occasionally when being there in person will help move an important problem or implementation forward
2–6 years of experience in consulting, operations, strategy and operations, implementation, customer strategy, program management, or a similar problem-solving role
Experience working directly with customers or clients, particularly in complex or high-stakes situations
Strong structured problem-solving skills. You can take an ambiguous problem, figure out what matters, and create a path forward
Strong analytical skills and comfort using data to investigate problems and make decisions
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both senior executives and frontline operators
Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence teams without direct authority
Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple workstreams, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously
A strong sense of ownership. You care about the ultimate outcome, not just completing your assigned tasks
Curious and resourceful. You're comfortable learning new systems, processes, and industries quickly
Persistent when things get messy. You don't give up when the first solution doesn't work
Comfortable getting into the weeds. You'll need to understand operational details, systems, data, and processes to solve many of the problems you'll encounter
Consulting backgrounds are a particularly strong fit, especially candidates who have experience working with complex clients, structuring ambiguous problems, and driving cross-functional projects. We're also open to candidates from operations, implementation, product, program management, and other backgrounds with the same core skill set.
We're looking for people who are ready to move beyond simply identifying problems or making recommendations. You want to be the person responsible for making the solution work.
This is an onsite role based in our San Francisco office for ~2 days per week. We're also open to candidates who are willing to relocate to the Bay Area.
