The Global Payment Methods and Expansion Partnerships team develops and manages relationships with payment methods and financial partners that enable Stripe's product strategy, and delivers new capabilities in new and existing markets to Stripe users. Our team executes on high-impact, cross-functional initiatives across new products, geographic expansion, user advocacy, and policy. These partnerships have a significant impact on Stripe and the products used by millions of our users.
We are looking for a new member to join our team to develop and execute on high-impact initiatives with both payment method partners and expansion partners in new and existing markets, focusing on Asia-Pacific. These partnerships form the basis of Stripe's product. As part of these efforts, you will be responsible for deal negotiation and execution for our payment methods and expansion business. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact and contribute to the growth and success of Stripe's payment method partners.
The role will require close coordination with product and engineering teams, as well as cross-functional stakeholders including go-to-market teams, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Risk, and others, and with external partners' senior executives.
• Identify opportunities and craft partnership and product strategies for Greater China and partners in existing Asia-Pacific markets.
• Execute deals, manage partner onboarding and partnership development for new and existing financial partners.
• Understand our partners' strategic priorities, challenges, and internal roadmaps, and regularly communicate insights and recommendations to Stripe product stakeholders.
• Develop and grow Stripe's relationships with partners, identifying partner stakeholders who will champion Stripe and building alignment between Stripe and our partners.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of both deal processes and ongoing partner management and distribution initiatives.
We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
• 10+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, corporate development, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience related to payments or ecommerce.
• Business-level proficiency in Mandarin (written and spoken) is required, as this role involves daily communications with our partners in the Greater China region.
• Deep Asia-Pacific market knowledge, particularly in Greater China, and a thorough understanding of payment method dynamics and business models.
• Strong agency, with the ability to handle ambiguity in a fast-moving organization and thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with varying priorities and drive creative solutions and commitment to a shared goal.
• Experience working in product-centric environments with significant internal and external dependencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders internally and externally across a wide variety of functions.
