About the Role
This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You’ll shape priorities with the founding team, build the foundations for how we bring products to market, and help define how product marketing contributes to Phylo’s overall brand and marketing strategy. You’ll own work from the initial idea through writing, launch, and follow-through, working closely with product, engineering, scientific, and commercial colleagues. There is plenty of opportunity to take on broader brand and marketing ownership as the company grows.
Develop positioning grounded in customer work. Understand the problems scientists are trying to solve, how they work today, and why they choose Biomni Lab. Turn those insights into clear messages for scientific users and pharma decision-makers. Bring a recommendation, test it in conversations, and refine it as the product develops.
Build customer stories from evidence. Work directly with customers and our Forward-Deployed Strategists to identify useful workflows, document the starting point and results, and understand what we can credibly say. Personally write case studies, use cases, and walkthroughs; coordinate scientific review and customer approval; and get them in front of the right audience.
Own product launches. Define the audience, message, and launch plan with the product team. Write the copy, develop demos and supporting materials, coordinate contributors, and learn from what people try and use after launch.
Run a focused marketing plan. Prioritize the stories and launches that matter, manage reviews and deadlines, and own distribution. Measure useful customer conversations, adoption, and contribution to qualified opportunities alongside engagement.
Inform Phylo’s broader brand and marketing strategy. Bring customer insights, positioning, and launch learnings to the founding team to help shape the company story, priority audiences, and where marketing should focus.
Hands-on experience taking AI products to market is required. You’ve personally owned positioning, launches, demos, and customer materials for a product whose core value depends on AI. You can explain its capabilities and limitations, translate them into credible customer value, and show work you created and shipped.
The ability to follow a research workflow, ask useful questions, and communicate credibly with scientists and R&D leaders. Experience in pharma, biotech, or life sciences is strongly preferred, whether within those organizations or marketing software for scientific R&D, but if you're unfamiliar, the ability to very quickly learn and ramp up is extremely valuable.
An AI-native way of working: you use AI tools effectively in your daily work, but have strong product and creative taste.
Excellent writing and editing. You can explain a complex capability clearly and simply, and concretely demonstrate relevance to scientists.
Strong customer / user interviewing skills and good evidence judgment: you know what a result supports, what remains uncertain, and what you need to ask next.
Strong execution in a small team. You can make a recommendation, resolve conflicting feedback, and carry a project through without a large supporting organization.
This is a 5 days a week role out of our South San Francisco office (close to Caltrain).
