About Plug
Plug is the marketplace for used electric vehicles. Consumers get an instant cash offer backed by battery-health data, and dealers across the US bid in real time on that inventory. Former Tesla executives founded Plug in 2023. We've facilitated $150M in EV sales and raised a $20M Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Why Plug

  • You'll own a piece of the biggest automotive infrastructure opportunity.

  • You'll work on a platform built exclusively for EVs, with nothing adapted from legacy automotive.

  • You'll be part of an AI-native company. We're rethinking how work gets done at a fundamental level.

  • You'll work directly with operators who have scaled multi-billion-dollar businesses in automotive, EV, and marketplaces.

  • You'll have real ownership, high autonomy, and a direct line to company outcomes.

The Opportunity
Plug's Operations team runs the marketplace end to end: payments, listings, logistics, and commercial intake. As we scale, we need someone dedicated to the strategic layer above it. That person makes sure leadership has a clear read on what's working, what isn't, and why, and turns that read into action. This person will own Operations' KPIs, lead strategic operational projects (such as verticalizing our operational infrastructure as we bring more of the transaction in-house), and act as a utility player wherever the business needs it most.

We're looking for someone who wants to sit close to the business, not adjacent to it. You can synthesize data into a clear narrative, push a room to make a decision, and then go build the thing that makes the decision real.

What You'll Do

Lead Strategic Operational Projects

  • Design and execute strategies to move core KPIs, from process fixes to new operating models.

  • Lead the effort to verticalize our operational infrastructure, bringing more of the transaction lifecycle in-house.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Product to scope, build the case for, and ship high-priority operational initiatives.

  • Work directly with the exec team and functional leads to translate strategy into execution.

Operate as a Utility Player for the Business

  • Serve as a right hand to Operations leadership, stepping in wherever the business needs it most that week.

  • Act as a thought partner to Operations leadership, bringing outside frameworks and fresh thinking to how the business runs.

  • Drive follow-through on action items from the WBR and other leadership meetings, turning decisions into shipped work.

  • Triage incoming fires and ambiguous asks, figuring out who should own them and how urgently.

  • Take on whatever falls outside anyone's clean job description, from special research requests to standing up a new process overnight.

Own Operational KPIs and Run the Operations WBR

  • Define and track the metrics that matter most to the business, from inventory turn time to cash conversion.

  • Build dashboards that give the team self-serve visibility into performance.

  • Dig into anomalies and trends to find the "why" behind the numbers, not just report the "what."

  • Own the Operations team's WBR cadence end to end: pull the numbers, build the narrative, and drive the meeting that keeps Operations leadership aligned on what's working and what isn't.

  • Keep the WBR and KPI set sharp as the business changes, retiring stale metrics and adding new ones as we launch new lines of business.

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years in operations or strategy, ideally in a high-growth or startup environment.

  • MBA or equivalent consulting experience, ideally with management consulting experience.

  • Thrives in ambiguity with a bias toward action, building and executing operating playbooks from scratch rather than following existing blueprints.

  • Cross-functional collaborator with experience driving alignment across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Product.

  • Preference for candidates with experience leveraging AI tools for analysis, reporting, and research.

Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary: $135,000 to $159,000

Salary ranges come from independent, third-party benchmarking against national compensation data. Where an offer falls within the range depends on relevant experience, specialized skills, training and qualifications, current business needs, and market conditions. We review ranges periodically and may adjust them as the market changes.

Benefits & Perks

  • Health, Vision, and Dental insurance

  • 401(k) plan

  • Daily lunch stipend

  • Equity (based on role and performance)

  • 30-day remote work from anywhere policy

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Fully stocked kitchen

  • Dog-friendly office

  • Ongoing opportunities for growth and development

This full-time position is based in Sawtelle (between Santa Monica and West Los Angeles) and is an in-person role. Relocation assistance will not be provided for successful candidates. Sponsorship not available at this time.
