About the job

This position is needed to advance the quality, reliability, and strategic value of Twilio’s Go-To-Market (GTM) data by designing and maintaining robust business data models to enable trusted sales analytics, reporting, data science, & AI capabilities. The Staff, Business Intelligence Engineer will play a mission-critical role in our evolution from traditional BI to AI, ensuring data consistency and empowering data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll perform:

  • ​​Data Analysis and Interpretation: Utilize advanced analytical techniques to analyze large datasets, extract meaningful insights, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance revenue operations efficiency
  • Data Monitoring: Develop and maintain automated data reconciliation and quality checks to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and consistency of critical reports and dashboards.
  • Data Visualization: Create compelling visualizations to effectively communicate complex data insights, making information accessible and actionable for a diverse audience
  • Data Modeling: Build and maintain data models to support GTM, helping the organization make informed strategic decisions

Data Automation (BI-as-Code): Drive the automation of our business intelligence ecosystem by treating dashboards and semantic layers as code. You will leverage Git, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure our data infrastructure is reproducible, version-controlled, and highly scalable

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Product, to understand business requirements and provide analytical support
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, reporting processes, and analytics tools to drive continuous improvement in data analysis capabilities

*Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related discipline, with a preference for direct experience supporting GTM or sales analytics in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, particularly in the context of executive reporting and sales analytics.
  • Advanced expertise in SQL and hands-on experience designing data models
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to codify, document, and reconcile critical business metrics, ensuring company-wide data alignment.
  • Proven track record of implementing robust data quality and testing frameworks, including expertise with CI/CD and data observability.
  • Strong technical communication and mentorship skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to a range of audiences.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics).
  • A software engineering mindset applied to data - understanding code reviews, automated testing, and environment separation (Dev/Staging/Prod)
  • Experience with code-based BI and semantic tools to orchestrate data pipelines (e.g., Looker/LookML, dbt, Cube.js, or Apache Superset).
  • Strong proficiency with Git version control and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).

*Please note the salary range information provided applies only to candidates residing in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State due to local requirements. Compensation for candidates in other locations will be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that hiring for this role is not restricted to the locations listed above.

  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $116,960 - $146,200.
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $123,760 - $154,700.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $137,520 - $171,900.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
