SR. ACCOUNTANT, AI OPERATIONS

Play a key role in the finance organization by serving as the operational backbone of billing operations. This hands-on role owns the end-to-end order-to-cash lifecycle across complex revenue streams, including seat-based subscriptions, usage/consumption-based models, pre-committed contracts, uncommitted (pay-as-you-go) arrangements, hybrid billing structures, and enterprise custom deals. The ideal candidate reimagines processes rather than simply managing them, partnering cross-functionally to ensure billing accuracy, revenue integrity, and an exceptional customer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and manage the full order-to-cash billing cycle from booking through invoicing, collections, and cash application across all revenue streams
  • Oversee billing operations for diverse monetization models: seat-based licensing, usage/consumption-based billing, pre-committed contracts, uncommitted/on-demand arrangements, hybrid models, and enterprise custom deal structures
  • Ensure invoicing accuracy, proper tax treatment (VAT/Sales Tax), and compliance with contractual billing terms
  • Manage order processing workflows, establish and enforce SLAs, and drive down cycle times and error rates
  • Reconcile bookings data and ensure alignment between CRM, billing platforms, and the general ledger
  • Partner with Revenue Accounting to support accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606
  • Ensure billing practices support clean, auditable revenue streams and SOX compliance readiness
  • Develop and monitor KPIs including DSO, billing accuracy, aging analysis, collection efficiency, and revenue leakage metrics
  • Support monthly and quarterly close processes with timely, accurate billing data
  • Act as a subject matter expert across the billing technology stack and drive system optimization
  • Identify and implement process automation, eliminate manual touchpoints, and build scalable workflows
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of billing and order management professionals
  • Serve as the connective tissue between Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Revenue Accounting, Collections, Engineering, and Product teams
  • Represent the billing function in cross-functional projects including new product launches, pricing model changes, and system migrations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of accounting experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or other business discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in Billing Operations, Order Management, Accounts Receivable, or Order-to-Cash functions within SaaS, technology, or subscription-based businesses
  • CPA license or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles
  • Deep expertise managing multiple billing models simultaneously
  • Hands-on experience with billing and financial systems in complex, multi-system environments
  • Strong motivation for automation and process improvement
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI tools, or billing analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with multi-currency billing, international tax compliance, or multi-entity operations
  • Prior experience in high-growth, scaling environments

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work overtime and/or weekends as needed
  • This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, and requires being onsite full-time — hybrid and remote work will not be considered
