Design at WisdomAI
WisdomAI is building an AI thinking partner for business — a context-aware platform that answers questions from your data, builds apps, and powers agents that help run your business. Grounded in the context of your business, it delivers accurate, consistent answers that help people understand what's happening, why it matters, and what to do next.
We're building a small, deliberately senior design team: fewer designers, more ownership each. As a Staff Product Designer, you'll set direction for the product experience as a whole, not a single feature: how our core surfaces fit together, how the design system scales with them, and what the craft standard of the company should be. You'll still do the hands-on work yourself, and you'll make the designers around you better while you do it. You'll work directly with our VP of Design as a hands-on partner, and as the team grows, there's room for this role to grow with it.
Some UX patterns for AI are settling; many aren't. You'll lead on some of AI's most interesting design problems: how answers earn trust, how intelligent analytical agents create value and report back, how a generated app should feel, and how complex analysis becomes clear and actionable through New York Times–caliber data visualization. Part of this job is applying what works, part is inventing what doesn't exist yet, and part is deciding which of those a problem needs. The goal is a thinking partner that helps people make smarter decisions and take smarter actions. It's simple by default, with power one click away.
Our product's entire promise is trust — people make real decisions from what we show them. A chart that's technically correct but visually misleading is a failure. An answer that's right but illegible is a failure. Craft isn't decoration at WisdomAI. It's the product working.
We work AI-forward. Exploration often starts in an LLM — clarifying intent, mapping edge cases, pressure-testing a direction before a single frame exists. We move fluidly between tools like Figma, Paper, Claude, or Cursor. We're not precious about process or toolchain; we optimize for velocity and quality. At the staff level, you'll help define how the team works this way, not only practice it.
What you'll do
Set the product experience vision across multiple areas, and turn it into a direction the team, PMs, and engineers can build toward.
Take on the most ambiguous, highest-stakes problems: frame them with customers and leadership, explore the solution space, and carry the work through launch and iteration.
Shape the roadmap alongside product and engineering leadership, using customer insight and design exploration to influence what we build, not only how.
Design the moments where complexity becomes clarity: trustworthy AI answers that range from a single number to deep analysis, data visualizations that make the story clear enough to act on, artifacts from dashboards to apps and presentations, and intelligent analytical agents that work on users' behalf.
Own the coherence of the product. Define the interaction patterns and principles that keep chat, apps, agents, and visualizations feeling like one system.
Lead the evolution of our design system and its foundations, partnering with engineering on how it's built and adopted.
Prototype early and often using AI tools, and set the bar for how the team uses them, sharing prompts, patterns, and process.
Mentor designers through crits, pairing, and direct feedback, and raise the craft standard in what we ship.
Help shape how design works across R&D: our rituals, our quality bar, and how design partners with product and engineering.
Help grow the team: shape who we hire and the culture they join.
Talk to customers directly. Treat research as a velocity tool, not a gate.
8+ years designing exceptional products, ideally in B2B, data, AI, or other complex domains, including time leading work across multiple product areas.
Exceptional visual craft and taste. You notice the 1px things, and you know which ones matter.
Mastery of typography, color, spacing, and hierarchy, with attention to the details that make interfaces feel effortless and hold up in daily use.
A portfolio that shows product vision as well as execution: work where you defined the direction, made complex systems feel simple, and shipped it.
Systems thinking. You design patterns and frameworks that other designers build on, and you can show where your decisions shaped a whole product, not one screen.
A track record of influence without authority. You've changed a roadmap, aligned leadership on a direction, or set a standard a team adopted.
Experience mentoring designers and raising the quality of a team's work.
A strong appetite for designing with AI. Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI prototyping tools is strongly preferred, along with curiosity about whatever ships next. If you're not there yet but you're hungry to work this way, we want to hear from you.
You code, or consider yourself one part design engineer — conversant in components, states, and how interfaces get built.
You have deep experience with data visualization, and opinions about it.
You've built or led a design system and know what it takes for shared components to scale.
You've led design on fast-moving product teams where iteration and momentum win.
You've been an early design hire or helped build a design team from the ground up.
You've managed designers, or you're ready to.
