The Core Experiences Platforms Org in Bangalore is responsible for the main set of platforms to access and interact with core assets such as Workspaces, Notebooks, SQL queries and the necessary serving infrastructure to power multiple User Experiences.

Databricks is experiencing very high growth, and several critical services rely on the platforms of the Core Experiences Platforms Org. We are focused on redesigning our systems to support the next stage of growth. This is an opportunity for you to be owning several critical next generation infrastructure for databricks, and be a central part of databricks' growth.

As an Engineering Manager in the Core Experiences Platform Org, you will build and operate highly available and scalable platforms which serve multiple products in Databricks, allowing it to seamlessly scale and run across various geographic regions and clouds, and make Databricks the go-to product for big data processing in the cloud. You will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Engineering.

  • You will hire great engineers to build an outstanding team
  • You will support engineers in their career development by providing clear feedback, as well developing engineering leaders
  • You will ensure high technical standards by instituting processes (architecture reviews, testing) and culture (engineering excellence)
  • You will work with engineering and product leadership to build a long-term roadmap
  • You will coordinate execution and collaborate with multiple product teams with feature requests from the platform

What We Look For:

  • Great at hiring and developing talent, especially leadership
  • Great at creating efficient processes that increase velocity and quality
  • 2+ years of experience in managing teams that build and operate high-volume distributed systems in a SaaS environment
  • 5+ years of experience with distributed systems and building platforms and services which serve multiple product teams and customers
  • Have experience in scaling engineering teams from 5 to 20+
  • Team player that will work with other departments (PM, CS) and engineering teams.
  • BS or higher in Computer Science, or a related field
