About the Role

We are looking for our first community hire: Someone who loves developer communities, wants to be in the middle of online and offline events, and is always ready to discuss recent technological developments with the Factory community.

You will own the Factory Guild (our ambassador program), run our developer events, build relationships with relevant companies and individuals in the tech space. You will be a face and a voice developers recognize and relate to.

This role is in person, in our San Francisco office, and might require traveling to events in other locations.

What you will do and achieve

  • Build our developer ambassador program — recruit the first cohorts, support them properly, and keep it alive past the first month, which is where most programmes quietly die

  • Run our own developer events end to end, from the invitation to the follow-up, and represent Factory at the ones we sponsor

  • Be a visible and credible voice for Factory — on stage, in workshops, on podcasts, and in live demos where things occasionally break

  • Show up where developers already are, including open source, and take part rather than broadcast

  • Own the feedback loop back into product: bring what developers keep asking for to the people who can build it, then tell the community what happened

  • Create the material that helps people get started — tutorials, demo scripts, workshop content

Qualifications

  • A strong speaker, but also a stronger listener. You can hold a stage, prepare an engaging talk, but you can hold a one-to-one conversation.

  • You have strong writing skills, your communication style is authentic and relatable, but still professional

  • You are technical enough to be credible with engineers. You do not need engineering background, but you should be confident in demoing the product, and talking about the latest trends in autonomous software, coding agents, harnesses, and LLMs

  • You are able to communicate fast and be responsive to community members

  • 2+ years in developer relations, community, developer advocacy, or as a developer who spent real time doing this type of work

  • A track record of running events or programmes end to end, at any size

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, and happy to ship a scrappy first version rather than wait for perfect conditions

You might excel if you

  • You genuinely enjoy spending time with people, and you get energy from talking and listening to them.

  • Have managed community or ambassador program from scratch before

  • Are already known in AI or developer-tooling circles, through open source, talks, writing or community leadership

  • Come from a software engineering background and want to point that credibility at something more people-facing

This is an in-office position (5 days/week) in San Francisco (walking distance to Caltrain)
