The Opportunity

You will own credit and collections for Flexport across Asia Pacific and be the partner to APAC leadership and every country leader on customer risk. You will take Flexport’s global credit framework and adapt it to APAC, tailoring policy, terms and limits to each market’s practices and making sure the business applies them consistently. You will also run collections for the region, keeping receivables current and cash coming in. As Flexport expands across APAC, you will extend this framework to new countries, supported by the automation and risk tools developed by our US Corporate Credit team.

If you want to protect Flexport’s capital while helping the business win more trade in Asia, you belong here.

Scope:

  • Regional Ownership: Manage Flexport’s credit and collections function across Asia Pacific, covering every market where we operate.
  • Expansion Support: Support Flexport’s growth across the region, rolling out credit for new countries, entities and products as they launch.
  • Policy Localization: Adapt Flexport’s global credit policy and processes to APAC markets, adding country-specific rules where local practice requires it.
  • Function Building: Scale a robust credit function in the region, from decisioning and monitoring to collections and reporting.

You Will:

  • Localize Credit Policy: Apply Flexport’s global credit framework to each APAC country and adapt it to local legal, regulatory, tax, currency and payment practices
  • Partner with APAC Leadership: Serve as the credit partner to APAC leadership and each country leader. Align credit strategy with commercial goals, present portfolio risk, and make clear, timely calls on high-impact requests.
  • Own the APAC Portfolio: Monitor exposure, aging and concentration, and spot emerging risk early so issues are handled before accounts go past due.
  • Lead Regional Collections: Own collections across APAC, from dunning strategy and past-due follow-up to payment plans, dispute resolution and escalation to external agencies or legal partners. Work with country teams to keep DSO and past-due balances within target.
  • Adopt US-Built Automation: Work with the US Corporate Credit and Credit Science teams to deploy credit scoring, monitoring and workflow tools in APAC. Define local requirements and drive adoption with country teams.
  • Apply Freight Forwarding Practice: Bring proven methods for managing credit with shippers, consignees, overseas agents and carriers, including duties, outlays, freight collect and cargo-release controls.
  • Manage External Partners: Own relationships with local credit bureaus, credit insurers, banks and collection or legal partners across the region.
  • Report and Govern: Deliver regular APAC portfolio reviews to regional and global Finance leadership, and keep the region compliant with policy and ready for audit.

You Should Have:

Hard Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial credit and collections, with at least 5 years leading credit and collections across multiple APAC countries.

  • Collections: Track record of running collections and reducing past-due balances and DSO.

  • Executive Presence: Able to influence senior commercial leaders and country managers, and to say no when the risk isn’t right.
  • Cross-Cultural Leadership: Builds trust with teams across very different markets and business cultures.
  • Ownership: Takes full accountability for the region with little direction.
  • Communication: A clear, persuasive communicator, both written and verbal, at every level of the organization.

  • Collaboration: A team player who makes cross-functional partners better.
