About this role
Faire’s Brand Partnerships team brings the most sought-after brands onto Faire. For many of these brands, the deal is won or lost on the technical sale: whether their catalog, inventory, pricing, and orders can flow cleanly between their systems and Faire, and how much work it takes to get there.
That's the work we're hiring for. Brands connect to Faire in three ways: native platform apps, a curated network of middleware and EDI partners, or a custom build on Faire's public API. Integrated brands perform better on Faire, with fuller catalogs, more accurate pricing, and fewer stockouts. We already have integration expertise, tooling, and a solution design process in place. What we don't have yet is a true sales engineering muscle: someone who pairs deep integration knowledge with a seller's instincts and brings integration into every deal earlier.
As our Sales Engineer, you'll be the technical counterpart to our Enterprise Account Executives across NAM and EU. You'll also partner with Brand Success Managers on existing brands. You'll own the technical win from the first discovery call through integration go-live, and you'll help turn the foundation we've built into a repeatable sales engineering motion. As the function grows, there's real room for this role to grow with it.
This is a quota-carrying role. Your quota is tied to the brand activations you support and how quickly those brands reach integration go-live. You'll report to [reporting line] and work closely with Enterprise AEs, Brand Success Managers, Integration Support, and Product.
What you’ll do
- Qualify for technical feasibility early - From the first call, run technical discovery with Enterprise AEs.
- Map the brand's stack: commerce platform, ERP, WMS/3PL, shipping and label tools, and any existing EDI or middleware.
- Find the source of truth for catalog, inventory, and orders.
- Tell AEs and leadership which deals are worth prioritizing, what's feasible, and where the risk sits.
- Flag early when a brand's technical team can't match the pace of the deal.
- Build the business case - Show brands why integrating beats managing Faire manually. Lay out timeline, total cost (including middleware fees against margin), and weekly operational hours saved, in terms a brand's CFO and operations lead can sign off on.
- Design the solution - Recommend the right path for each brand: a native app (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop), a middleware or EDI partner, or a custom build on our API. Weigh the brand's ERP, shipping model, and IT capacity. Own the solution design so AEs can stay focused on the deal.
- Close the fulfillment loop - The hardest part of most enterprise integrations is getting tracking and shipping cost back into Faire automatically, so orders close and brands get paid. Design around it from day one.
- Get brands live - Work with brand IT teams, agencies, and middleware partners through setup and testing.
- Set honest timelines by separating the dependencies you can move from the ones you can't.
- Plan a controlled first set of orders.
- Hand off to Brand Success Managers and Integration Support with clear success criteria and owners.
- Resolve complex escalations - Take on the hardest integration issues for prospects and existing brands, including inventory drift, pricing discrepancies, catalog mapping, and order and fulfillment sync. Work alongside the Integration Support team that handles the day-to-day queue.
- Build the playbook - Extend our existing discovery tools, solution design templates, and reference architectures into a repeatable motion. As Faire launches new integration types, own how each one gets codified and rolled out, pre-sale and post-sale.
- Be the voice of brands' technical needs - Separate what you can solve by routing a brand to a different path from what only Product can close. For the second, size the upside and bring Product and Engineering a quantified business case.
What you’ll do
- First 30 days: Learn Faire's integration paths, partner network, and solution design process, and shadow live enterprise deals.
- By 60 days: Lead technical discovery and solution design on active deals, and own a set of escalations end to end.
- By 90 days: Extend our reference architectures to cover a common enterprise stack, and publish a technical qualification guide the AE team uses.
- Ongoing:
- Activations on SE-engaged deals
- Time from signature to integration go-live
- Brands going live with orders flowing into their systems without manual re-entry, and fulfillment data flowing back automatically
Qualifications
- 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role (sales engineering, solutions engineering, solutions consulting, or integration consulting), ideally at a B2B SaaS, marketplace, or e-commerce company
- Track record of winning complex, multi-stakeholder deals as the technical lead alongside an AE
- Hands-on experience with at least one ERP (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, SAP, or similar) and one middleware or iPaaS platform (Celigo or similar); Shopify experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, OAuth, and JSON: you can read API documentation, test endpoints, script in at least one language, and scope a custom build honestly; SQL is a plus
- You understand how catalog, inventory, pricing, orders, shipments, tracking, and shipping cost move between systems, and where that flow breaks
- Familiarity with shipping and fulfillment operations: label platforms, 3PLs and WMS, and flat-rate vs. variable-rate shipping
- You translate technical constraints into business terms for executives, and business requirements into technical plans for engineers
- Commercial instincts - you know when a technical problem is a deal problem, and you prioritize your time the way a seller does
- You've taken an existing process and made it repeatable, and others adopted what you built
- Curious about AI and already using it in your technical workflow
- Comfortable working across time zones to support NAM and EU teams
- EDI experience (850, 856, 810, 846) is a plus
- Experience supporting international brands (multi-currency, VAT) is a plus
- Wholesale, retail, or supply chain experience is a strong plus
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or New York City
