From the original posting
Reporting to Ian Withrow, VP of Product Management, you'll own a major area of Ambient's platform: the problems it solves for enterprise security teams, what we build, and ultimately the realization of customer value.
Our customers run security operations centers where a small team is responsible for thousands of cameras and doors, far more than people can watch. Your job is to find the next problems worth solving for those teams, turn them into well-defined problems for engineering and design, and get the result into daily use.
We're building the product team now. You'll be one of the first PMs to join under our new VP of Product, so you'll help shape how product management works here, not just follow a playbook.
Take new capabilities from 0 to 1 to 10: discover the problem with customers, define it, ship it with engineering and design, and drive it to adoption.
Decide how success will be measured before you build, then report adoption and usage after you ship. Here, adopted is done; shipped is not.
Spend real time with customers: the operators who use our product every day, the security leaders who buy it, and the field teams who sell and support it.
Work with engineering as a credible technical peer, especially on AI product questions like accuracy, false alarms, and operator trust.
Think from first principles. Requests will come from sales, customers, and leadership; you dig past the request to the underlying problem, weigh the evidence, and make a clear, well-reasoned case for what we should build and why.
Great candidates bring all three. It's fine if one of them is still a growth area for you.
A record of shipping new, customer-facing products. You've taken something from idea to launch to real adoption, and you can show the numbers.
A strong enterprise PM toolkit. Discovery, prioritization, metrics, and the judgment to pick the right problem. We want an all-around athlete, not a specialist.
Technical depth and fast learning. You understand how software and AI systems work, and you get up to speed in new domains quickly. We don't expect physical security experience; we expect you to learn it fast.
Above all, we look for a track record: people who have excelled in their past roles, whether as a PM or as an engineer, data scientist, or designer who owned what got built.
Several years building software products, including customer-facing features or products you shipped that customers used, with measurable impact.
Experience with enterprise customers.
Clear communication: you can tell a crisp story with data to engineers, customers, and executives.
At least one of the following, and more is a plus:
A background in engineering, data science, or design before product management.
Experience building AI or ML products.
Startup or early product team experience, where you helped build something from the ground up.
Why join us:
We are creating an entirely new category within a 180+ billion-dollar physical security industry and looking for team members who are also passionate about our mission to prevent every security incident possible
We partner with an incredible customer roster of F500 companies, including Adobe, TikTok, Gap and SentinelOne
We’ve found that in-person time meaningfully supports collaboration, creativity, and team alignment. Our talent, engineering, product, design, and marketing teams work from our Redwood City office three days a week. All other Bay Area employees join on Fridays to stay connected and close out the week together.
